PTSD and its Unforeseen Cause

PTSD and depression are the most common mental disorders when it comes to veterans. It is a common conception that they struggle with these disorders because of the traumatizing events of war, but annalists are beginning to believe it is the population they come home to that determines whether they contract the illness or not. 50% of the military veterans apply for PTSD compensation yet only 10% have seen combat. An explanation of this 40% of trauma-less American veterans getting PTSD would be their change of environment, from a unified platoon to a divided country at home. American veterans experience this at such a high rate versus in the Israeli army because Israel is a country immersed in war and its citizens as well, leading to a 1% PTSD rate. This division of their new environment is what is suspected to create this unforeseen development, which would explain the development of a trauma based disorder without seeing action in country.
